Galt became incorporated in 1946 and is a growing community located about 20 miles south of Sacramento along Highway 99. Galt is known for its small town charm, great recreation programs and moderately priced homes.
The city is also known for its annual spring Strawberry Festival, Summer Galt Festival and Winter Bird Festival. The Galt Market, an outdoor market held every Tuesday and Wednesday offers fresh fruits and vegetables, clothing, home furnishings and much more. The city’s vision is to “be a premier, family-oriented community united to create a unique city with diverse shopping, dining, entertainment and employment opportunities with a small town atmosphere.”
Sports and recreation abound in Galt. There are numerous parks with a variety of activities for youth and adults such as t-ball, baseball, football, soccer, swimming, to meet the needs of an active community.
Galt is located in the heart of the Sacramento Delta and is forty miles away from the Sierra Foothills. Reno, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and the California coast are all an approximate two hour drive away, making Galt a recreational haven for boat lovers and outdoors enthusiasts.
